Hi Students,
I hope you are well.
As many aged care homes have NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) residents, most facilities now request that all students have their NDIS clearance before starting placement. This clearance is becoming a mandatory requirement across more facilities.
Steps to Follow:
- Contact Clinical Facilitator:
- Reach out to your clinical facilitator to discuss available placement locations.
- Confirm Placement Location:
- Once you have chosen a location, this needs to be confirmed with the facility manager.
- Apply for NDIS Check:
- You can apply for your NDIS check via Service NSW by clicking this link.
- Service NSW will send an email prompting you to visit any branch to verify your identity with four documents such as:
- Driver licence
- Passport
- Medicare card
- Utility bill (gas, water, electricity, telephone, mobile phone, internet)
- Verification and Approval:
- Once you have verified your identity in person, details will be sent to the facility managers for approval.
- Please allow enough time, as it usually takes about 14 days to finalise the NDIS clearance check.
- Once the facility approves this, you will be notified by Service NSW.
- Submit NDIS Clearance:
- Send a copy or screenshot of your NDIS clearance to your clinical facilitator.
Important Notes:
- We cannot fast-track the facility’s approval of your NDIS check, so please allow enough time for this process.
- The application is free; please select "Volunteer" or "Student."
If you need additional support, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best regards,
